My Life as an Uni Student...

Here it comes! The very last sem of my uni life in Curtin University. The moment that I've been waiting since my first sem in Sedaya College! But anyhow, I'm gonna miss it. Heaps of memories were gained along the 4 years journey as a student... Even though not much time for us to hang out together while we were studying, but we have gone through a lot of things together.

I dun really remember on how I passed my first two years in Sedaya College, KL... But I remember of going back to my hometown at least twice a month! The third year was the year that I felt the most difficult of all. Everything seems to be new and hard to be adapted. The environment, weather, friends, slang, lifestyle, food, teaching style... Basically everything... Everything were quite hard to be adapted. Lots of assignments and tests which were due one after another. So many sleepless night which is normal in a student's life. And now, finally, the most awaited fourth year. We were focusing more on practicals rather than theories in fourth year, but to be frank, working life is really tiring!

My first rotation was in Kenwick Pharmacy. My preceptor were Sydney Aquino and Laura Yoon. Even though Syd was in just once a week in the pharmacy, he treated me very well. He taught many things and even bother to help me in finishing some parts of the placement workbook! Laura... She taught me heaps of things before going on her 4 weeks leave of her wedding. Not forgetting Marie-Claire, Diane, Christine and Phil who were assisting me all the time, especially when Syd and Laura were not around. And I still remember the very first patient that I served there. The first in my life actually! His name was Mr Christine Rich. Even though it was a small pharmacy and less busier than the others, I learned a lot about the basic things that a pharmacist need to know. Quite a number of bad experiences when dealing with some of the patients but nothing can be done rather than accepting them as lessons. Actually, those experience trained me to communicate better with the patients. Thank you to Kenwick team and special thanks to Marie-Claire for making me wonderful coffee each morning. They made my days!

My second rotation was happen to be at Wizard Warehouse Pharmacy Kelmscott. It was located quite far away from Cannington as I need to take both bus and train to reach there. Sacha Hoarau was my preceptor and Roslyn was the pre-registraton pharmacist. I learned quite a number of things from both of them even though I was busy serving the customers and dispensing at most of the time. It is a very big and busy pharmacy, 15 times as big and as busy as Kenwick Pharmacy. Everyday, I remembered of walking non-stop from one end to the another end of the pharmacy! Not much time to do my workbook or study in there. The things that I appreciated most were that I learned more on over-the-counter (OTC) products as I spend more time in recommending products to the patients compared to Kenwick Pharmacy. As almost all of the brands in the market were sold there, I gained a better knowledge on OTC items. And as the drugs in the dispensary were arranged according to their generic name, it was easier for me to remember the active ingredients of most of the drugs, especially those which were commonly dispensed. The last week of my rotation was the Diabetic Week and I made the Fruit Bread Pudding for the customers. I seriously have no clue on how it tasted as I did not have gut to try it! The staffs there...Lisa, Jacinta, Shelley, Chevon, Stephanie, Jenny, Teyjana, Michelle, Danielle and many more. Many thanks for all of your guidance.

And my third rotation will be starting soon on September. It would be in Night & Day Pharmacy in Canning Vale. Hopefully, it would be a much smaller and less busier pharmacy!
